July 4th

We had a great 4th of July! Most of the day was spent at Mom and Dad's playing in water and sand, eating BBQ and enjoying fireworks.

Our 'venture

Jacob likes to go on adventures with Mommy and Daddy (or 'ventures he calls them).
So this Saturday we went on an adventure to the Bryn Athyn Cathedral just north of Philadelphia. We didn't get to go in the cathedral because it was closed but we got a look inside the museum next door which is owned by the same church. There was also a gigantic estate house on the same property. It all used to be owned by an uber wealthy family from this area. We kind of came on the worst day/time because we couldn't do any of the tours but we did get to have a nice picnic. And even though Mommy and Daddy were disgruntled, Jacob had the time of his life.

This is the museum

B-Ball

I took Jacob to the park today to play a little street ball. He dominated the courts.

DUNK!

DUNK!

DUNK!

I am so awesome!

Setting up for a sweet dunk

Jacob, annihilating his foes (foes not shown)

Cooling off with a little tunnel exploring

This might be obvious but dunking balls is Jacob's #1 favorite thing to do right now. The first thing he asks for when he wakes up? "Balls...dunkin'!" I love this kid.

Hooray!!

The past month or so I have been using all my spare time to prepare for my written comprehensive exam - the test I have to take before I am okayed to start the internship for my Master's degree. This past Saturday I took the test and it's all over. Now I can relax (a little bit).

A Visit

Our good friend Derek came out from Kansas City to visit over President's Day weekend. We had some good times, one of which was a trip to Lititz to the Sturgis pretzel factory (the first pretzel factory in the U.S.) and the Wilbur's chocolate factory which is conveniently located 5 or so blocks from the pretzel factory. We all had a blast (especially Jacob). Aunt Shana, Uncle Mike, Aunt Abby and Aunt Bekah also went on the trip. At the pretzel factory everyone got a chance to practice their pretzel twisting skills. As you can see from the pics, Jake was a natural.
