PEI

Saturday we got back from an eight day vacation to Prince Edward Island with Ryan and Ann. We especially enjoyed not having to go to work. It was great fun and very beautiful. Everywhere we looked there was something picturesque to look at. Here are some of the pictures we got.

These are some of the famous red PEI cliffs. We took this picture on the beach of Red Point Provincial Park which is where we camped.

At the Northeastern tip of the island there was a windmill power station. Doug got really excited since he is working on the research and development of a windmill at work (among other things). The first time we saw the windmills we were driving with Ryan and Ann, and Doug got some pictures. But a couple of days later he wanted to go back and get a closer look. So we drove up to the gate which said only authorized people were allowed on the property. Doug was not swayed by this and he made sure I went with him onto the property so that he would look more harmless. I was pretty nervous we would get into trouble but it turned out the people were nice and let us get up close to the windmills.

Potato farmland. PEI potatoes are delish, we had them for dinner one night.

This is a view from our campsite.

These are dunes at Panmure Island, one of the beaches we went to when we were in PEI as kids.

Here's another shot from Panmure Island.

This is the Northeastern tip of PEI with it's lighthouse. We loved the beach here. There were some really cool rock formations and tidal pools. The beaches in PEI are way cooler than the ones on the east coast. They aren't crowded and they have sandbars, cliffs, tidal pools etc. There was also lots of wildlife. We saw crabs, hermit crabs, snails, jellyfish and starfish along with the remains of a multitude of other shellfish.

Here's Doug preparing to fish in a local stream. He got a fishing license and fishing pole for his birthday, which we celebrated while we were in PEI.

And here we are at Basin Head Beach. It rained almost all day this day but despite that the island was still beautiful. All in all it was a wonderful trip and very nostalgic for me since we got to see a lot of the places I saw as a kid. We even got to see the Bryson's old house.
